NEBULLAMA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -Nebullama releases a new single, “The Swing”!

Moncton’s Nebullama will release the third single, The Swing, from their upcoming debut full-length album. The psych-funk band is experimenting with a much more indie/ pop approach on this track while simultaneously keeping it sexy and funky.

Produced and recorded in Charlo, NB, by Pierre-Guy Blanchard in May 2019, “The Swing” is the latest single by Nebullama from their upcoming debut full-length album, “Vol. 1”, set to be out in April 2020. Coming on the heels of the previous single (both in release order and in the album track-list), “Pour un Moment,” which acted as a pause in the heavily psych-rock and funky feels of the album, The Swing extends this simplicity with an Indie-rock kind of approach, to then transition back into the usual style of the band. This duality is also a focal point of the song, being “caught in the swing of things”.

The band also collaborated for the first time with someone outside the band, as the lyrics were penned by Moncton writer Marc Chamberlain.

“Working with Nebullama was very freeing, in that the only real
constraints I had were those set by the music itself – including the vocal melody, from which I could carve out the length of a breath, line breaks for both verse and chorus.” ” I took so long to sit down and write the damn thing! I remember becoming a nervous wreck any time I envisioned myself at my desk to pen the lyrics – with lyrics being so much more public and accessible than poetry, I wanted to make sure people would dig what I’d come up with. To my great relief, everyone seemed to be happy with the end result, and I remain very appreciative of the opportunity and the band’s patience.” – Marc Chamberlain

“The general tone and mood set by the music – that, and the working titles of the song when it was first sent to me: one version was sent to me with the working title of “Love Song,” and another was titled “Meat on The Bone.”

This created a weird dichotomy in my mind between the visceral and the emotional. Eventually, things just fell into place as a sort of cheeky interplay between sensuality and disinterest -both of which can have devastating consequences when in love.- Chamberlain, talking about his inspiration for the lyrics.

The single is now available on all streaming platforms. Find them as well on Facebook, Instagram and Bandcamp.
