Strange Grooves Exclusive: A Quality Block Party Special

On this very special of Strange Grooves, it’s all things Quality Block Party!

In case you’re not familiar, Quality Block Party is an incredible grassroots music festival that takes place in Saint John twice a year. Once in April (this weekend), then again in August.

The festival brings the best of local music from New Brunswick (and beyond) and provides an incredible opportunity for artists both new and established. And provides opportunities for show-goers of all ages. Not to mention, it is generally just one hell of a party!

In this episode, we chat with Abigail Smith, one of the festival’s organizers. We talk about everything Quality Block, including the festival’s conference component (some really thoughtful and important sessions!), the Show Buddies program and how organizers see the festival’s role as a community building.

And of course, who is playing, where they’re playing and how you can be there (Check out our Facebook page to find out how you can win a free pass!)

We also chat about another great music event happening that’s also happening this weekend. Our friends The Hammond River Collective are also having their album release show on Saturday. Their album was actually produced by former Strange Grooves guest Paul Milner! It will be such a fun show, so if you’re in the area, you gotta check it out. More info on that here.

Thanks so much for listening! As always, if you like what you hear and want to support this podcast and all the other great content on Strange Grooves, please consider becoming a Patron. It’s super easy!
