Strange Grooves at SOMMO Festival 2026: Get It Into Ya
Our podcast, Strange Grooves, headed back to SOMMO Festival in Cavendish, PEI this past weekend and honestly... we love SOMMO.
Like, really love SOMMO.
We think it's straight up one of the best festivals out there. Logistically. Musically. Food-wise. Organization-wise. Hospitality-wise. We could go on for days about just how great this festival is, but there's a reason it's growing every year, dominating lineups, bringing some of the best artists in the world to Atlantic Canada, and showcasing hospitality in an almost unreasonably incredible way.
This was our third year attending and every year feels special. The lead-up starts months before. We're talking about it on episodes in January, wondering who will be on the lineup, who we'll get to talk to, who we'll meet, and what stories we'll come home with. Then the lineup drops, the excitement builds, the road trip planning starts, and before you know it, we're heading back to Cavendish.
At the end of the day, we're just grateful.
Grateful that a podcast built around music allows us to connect with people. Grateful for the artists who take the time to sit down with us. Grateful for the listeners who come along for the ride. Life can be hard sometimes, and it's important to let in the good.

Corey and Tara came this year for the first time, LOVED IT and we’re a major help with capturing content, giving out swag, ensuring mic cables were long enough you know important things! We could not have done it without them and love this crew of pals so much!
The Interviews
This year we had the chance to sit down with some incredible artists and we were genuinely blown away.
More than anything, one theme kept showing up in every conversation: music matters.
Not just creating it. Living it.
Music gets people through joy, grief, heartbreak, growth, uncertainty, celebration, friendship and all the things we call life's deep cuts. You could hear it in every interview and see it in every artist we spoke with.
We saw it backstage and in the crowd.
We saw it with the friends who helped us with camera duties all weekend.
We saw it with complete strangers we met in the field.
Music means something to people.
That's what these conversations became about.

When Strange Grooves started, it was always about more than music. It's about people and telling stories. It's about the moments that connect us. Whether we're sitting backstage with an artist, talking to friends in a festival field, or recording an episode from home, we're always chasing the same thing: authentic conversations about music and life.
The good stuff. The hard stuff. The funny stuff. Life’s deep cuts as we like to say.
SOMMO reminded us of that again this year.
So we're back at it. Talking real life, friendship, talking goals, hardships, making music, joy, grief all of it, and we hope you enjoy every one of these interviews as much as we enjoyed making them.
